If you are hosting, flowers are one of the easiest ways to make a table feel considered without spending hours on decor. The trick is choosing the right format for a table that still needs to be practical.
Keep the centrepiece low
A tall arrangement looks impressive in photos but gets in the way of conversation. A low, compact arrangement — or a line of smaller bud vases down the centre of the table — almost always works better in practice.
Match flowers to the mood of the evening
A relaxed lunch suits loose, garden-style arrangements with seasonal greenery. A more formal dinner suits tighter, more structured arrangements — think roses and ranunculus rather than wild, trailing stems.
Do not forget the smaller details
A single stem at each place setting, or a small posy in the bathroom and entrance, extends the effort of the main centrepiece through the rest of the home without much extra cost.
